Rich Metrics from Wearables

Exercise Science is informed by metrics. They allow to assess athlete performance, health, injury risk, or areas for improvement. An important aspect of my work focuses on capturing new or more rich metrics in unobtrusive ways:
From the lab to the real world

Running

Braking and propulsion forces during running enable advanced insights into running performance. We investigated estimating these forces from minimal subsets of wearable sensors, and compared lab-based ground truth measurements in the lab to estimates on the treadmill, outdoors, and overground.
